FNF: The Doxxing of America

Image
Today on Friday Night Fights:  the Doxing Wars continue.  This time around, it just happens to be the US Supreme Court Justices.  It breaks Mr. Jon's Rule #3, I firmly believe there are several violations to privacy and public safety pre- and post-Doxing, and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) should be amended. Read it here before it gets taken down:   Read Justice Alito's initial draft abortion opinion which would overturn Roe v. Wade - POLITICO ----------------------------------------------------------- For those of you living under a rock, one of the 9 Supreme Court Justices, Justice Alito, wrote a draft piece that brings up revisiting Roe V. Wade, the law that legalizes abortion and gives women the confidence to break Rule #3 and shout in a random person's face "MY BODY MY CHOICE."  Stack on the Planned Parenthood V. Casey case, which is about minors getting abortions without parental concent, and now we have a firestorm. Roe v. Wade - Wikipedia Pla...

Survival New: Outdoor Safety with Noise and Survival

Image
Survival News:  I recently read an article about a teen who had gone missing in LA County in California and I feel inspired to write about Outdoor Safety regarding this.  Outdoor Safety and Survival is always paramount in my mind anytime we leave Fairbanks city limits for any reason. It gets a bit annoying to my wife, but she understands. The Story Goes As Such... according to the news post below:  a non-verbal teen (meaning he can't speak) got lost in the wilderness in LA County in a heavily wooded area.  The Search and Rescue Team found him because he was clanking rocks together to get someone's attention.  This happened in Crescenta Valley Park (google map of the park below).  The Search and Rescue Team found the teen in a steep canyon and only found him because he was clanking rocks together and the sound echoed in the canyon.   Non-verbal teen lost in L.A. area woods found after clinking rocks together, alerting rescuers (msn.com) Nonver...

FNF: The Sun Fights with the Snow (Safety Bit)

Image
Ladies and Gentlemen, we begin the most audacious fight of the season.  The Sun, our most prestigious resource on the planet, has officially declared a fight with the Snow.  This will more sound like a PSA or a Safety Bit. This year, Fairbanks had received a record of snowfall that the city / region has not seen since 1992.  In that winter, it was ~139 inches.  This year it was ~92 inches.  The average between 1991-2020 was ~65 inches. Fairbanks snowfall statistics | Sonot Kkaazoot This brings up a couple of topics (fights) that are worth mentioning.  The first fight to bring up is the fight between the Snow Load and the rating of your roof.   With all this excessive amount of snow, it is best to check your roof.  Any home built after '96 has ~50 pounds per square inch of load tolerance, with a decrease in tolerance as the older the building is, with something ~30 pounds per square inch for buildings built in the 60's.  If you're in the ...
